Most people have a favorite season and I have to admit that autumn has always been the season that I liked the least. But that has changed over the years, especially since I have lived in Singapore for a while. With no seasons in Singapore (there is wet and dry seasons though), I totally lost the feeling for a year passing by when living there. It was always ‘summer’ in Singapore, and then suddenly it was Christmas and the next year started. So, after a while I really missed the seasons we have here in Europe and I now very much appreciate experiencing all of them, including autumn.
Autumn wows us with trees showing off their beautifully colored leaves, accentuated by a golden afternoon light. So, it isn’t surprising that some of the trend colors for the fall/winter season 2017/2018 are beautiful shades of red, yellow, orange and brown. However, I’m wearing a look today without any of the seasonal trend colors, but just as compelling thanks to strong contrasts.
Black & White styles are never out of season
It’s a fact that black & white looks never really go out of style. And maybe you already noticed from some of my previous posts that I love wearing black & white outfits, no matter what the season. Why? Because without much effort this color combo always looks cool and classy at the same time.
Feels like velvet: Vegan cork handbag
For my black & white outfits I like to play with different materials and always add at least one eye-catching piece, like in this case the shopper with a black & white check pattern. By the way, this shopper is made from cork – a fantastic vegan alternative to leather! Believe it or not, this bag feels incredibly soft, almost like velvet, and is very light. But that’s not all: cork is also water-resistant, very robust and most important for the green fashionistas among us, cork is one of the best materials from a sustainability point of view. All the pieces making up my outfit (except for the shoes) are from eco-fair fashion labels:
- Coat by Lanius (PR sample*) // 100% pure new wool, from sheep farmed under organic conditions
- Sweater by lana (PR sample*) // made from 100% organic cotton, vegan
- Jeans by hessnatur (my own) // made from 98% organic cotton and 2% elastane
- Shopper by Artelusa (PR sample*) // made from cork, vegan // available at http://www.korkallee.de // Korkallee is proud winner of UK’s leading green P.E.A. Awards 2017 in the category “Nature”
Please always shop consciously.
Yours, Mary x
